We’re remembering all that it stands for by presenting to you the following books that deal with this dark and difficult topic.

The Diary of A Young Girl by Anne Frank

Diary entries from Anne Frank, a young girl diary kept by Anne Frank who lived in hiding for two years with her family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands.

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry

The story of a pair of young girls living in Coppenhagen during the Occupation of Denmark. This story follows the escape of a Jewish family as they try to evade the Nazis.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

The story, narrated by Death, tells of a young girl and her foster parents during World War II and the difficult times that they face.

The Boy in the Stripped Pyjamas by  John Boyne

Two young boys discover that despite their different lots in life (one Jewish, the other German) that they have many things in common as they both live their lives around Auschwitz.

Lisa’s War by Carol Matas

A young Jewish girl fights back after the Germans invade Denmark in 1940.
