Book Trailer: Rick Yancey’s “The 5th Wave”

Here at the O’Deary Library, we get just as excited as you do about books that are coming soon. Every week, we’ll bring you trailers for books – sometimes new ones, sometimes old ones, and sometimes even fan-made ones!

Here’s a trailer for all of you sci-fi junkies out there!

Picture this: Earth has been attacked by hostile, alien forces. We’ve suffered wave after wave of assaults. It’s a post-apocalyptic wasteland out there, and you don’t know who to trust. Pretty scary, right?

That’s the premise of Rick Yancey’s The 5th Wave, a science-fiction novel that sees humanity on its last legs, struggling to survive against the wrath of extraterrestrial forces. Sounds like the beginnings of a pretty great story, if you ask me!

So if you like your stories to be a little darker, then this novel might be right up your alley. Its got everything you could ask for: a post-apocalyptic setting, a strong, female protagonist, a love interest and, of course, crazy, monstrous aliens lurking in the shadows!

Check out the trailer above and the full premise below.

The Passage meets Ender’s Game in an epic new series from award-winning author Rick Yancey.

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother–or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.”
