J.R.R. Tolkien Reads a Chapter from The Lord of the Rings

J.R.R. Tolkien himself reads and acts out a scene from The Lord of the Rings – one which features both Sam and the mischievous Gollum.

This rare, old recording finds author J.R.R. Tolkien in classic storytelling mode as he acts out a scene from the second book in hisĀ Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Two Towers. The chapter feature the infamous Gollum character, who was one of Tolkien’s favourite to act out when reading his stories aloud, thanks to his creepy and sinister voice.

There aren’t many recordings left of Tolkien reading his own work, so clips like this are a rare treat. Check it out!
