Susin Nielsen Reads Aloud

We asked Susin Nielsen, author of Word Nerd, Dear George Clooney Will You Please Marry My Mother and The Reluctant Journal of Henry K. Larsen,  about reading aloud to her son.

What books did you enjoy reading aloud to your son?

Oh, I LOVED reading to my son! He’s now 16, so I haven’t done that for a number of years, but he still let me read to him till he was at least 12 (he’d have his own books on the go then, too).

I’d like to say I enjoyed reading all the Harry Potter books to him (which I did do), but to be honest, as the books went on, they were so long and dense that I sometimes found it hard-going!

I remember though that I loved reading him anything by Eva Ibbotson, and also anything by Cornelia Funke. I still have very vivid memories and feelings from those books.

Ask an Author is a semi-regular feature on O’Deary Library.  If you have a question for an author, leave it in the comments below.  We’ll try to reach the author and get an answer for you.
