Book List: Top Notch Detectives

It’s time to discover some top notch detectives, just like our friend Ruby Skye. A good detective has a keen eye, sharp senses and a desire to discover the hidden truth and we think these sleuths fit that bill.

Sherlock Holmes

Perhaps the most famous literary detective of all, Sherlock Holmes’ skills border on the fantastic. His logical approach to any mystery is his signature move.

Nancy Drew

An amateur girl detective who solves mysteries with her two best friends…sounds oddly familiar….

Hardy Boys

Brothers and amateur detectives who occasionally help solve the crimes brought to their father, a professional detective on the local police force.

Encyclopedia Brown

Encyclopedia Brown solves mysteries one of three ways, at the dinner table with his father the police chief, in his garage (which doubles as his detective agency) or with his friend Sally Kimball. Each mystery can be solved by the reader as well, to see if they can outsmart the boy detective.

Boxcar Children

Four children living with their grandfather and solve mysteries out of a Boxcar in his backyard.

Timmy Failure

Timmy Failure follows a hapless young sleuth as he solves crimes in his neighbourhood.

Chasing Vermeer

Two young students go on the hunt for a missing piece of art by Johannes Vermeer.

All The Wrong Questions

A prequel to A Series of Unfortunate Events, tells of a young Lemony Snicket, who is apprenticing for the mysterious V.F.D.

The Red Blazer Girls

Three friends find themselves on a scavenger hunt in search of a legendary ring that grants wishes.
