Little Brother is a recent young adult thriller, written by Cory Doctorow. It is uniquely different from other stories in the genre. The story revolves around four teenagers, all extremely tech-savvy and fully capable of cracking their school’s surveillance system, among other things. Sounds cool, right? It’s fun for them, living a life of network intelligence…but everything is about to change.
After a shocking terrorist attack in San Francisco, our four protagonists find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time and get taken in to Homeland Security for questioning regarding the attack! Thrown in prison and interrogated for days, the teens are relieved when they are finally released and allowed to go home. But this is where the story truly begins, for the world they left behind has changed in a matter of days, and they have a big mission on their hands if they want to restore the lives they once knew. Not so cool anymore.
For fans of conspiracy stories, look no further. Little Brother is a wildly exciting read that will leave you desperate for more with the turn of each page. It’s fast-paced, surprising, complex, humourous, and just a generally great book. When the story ends, fans will be craving more and thankfully, more is coming soon! The sequel, Homeland, is due for release later this year, so now is the perfect time to pick up Little Brother and see what all the hype is about.
