The Ghosts in the O’Deary Family Closet, Part 4
The O’Deary Family history is filled with ghosts.
Hello there, fellow conspiracy nuts and surveyors of the supernatural!
I am Chaz, and if you’ve stumbled upon my little corner of the Internet, you’ve likely had at least a passing interest in that mysterious building we call the O’Deary Library.
Not all is right within the walls of this house of literature, as many of you have already guessed. What you may not realize, however, is just how deep the mystery of the library runs – and how deeply linked it is to the family who established it. Join me as I take you through the mountains of evidence I’ve uncovered which all leads back to the unnatural behavior of this curious family, spanning generations and generations.
Let’s dive in.
When we last checked in with the seemingly-cursed O’Deary family, the distraught Devin and the reclusive Mary had lost their daughter (Dora) and their son-in-law (Gregory Gothika). Their other daughter (Dahlia) was missing and their only son (Dillon) had been practically abandoned, too. Phew! That’s a lot of tragedy for one family!
This is the point in the story where things get a little paranormal. Get ready!
It was some years after Dahlia fled from the police and disappeared when Devin and Mary began to notice it: new manuscripts under Gregory’s name were showing up on the shelves of the library! Nobody could explain how they got there, and were perplexed by their contents. Devin beefed up security in the library overnight, but still, new manuscripts appeared steadily over the years. Though Devin would never admit it, his superstitious nature got the best of him, and be began to suspect that the ghosts of his departed family members were playing some role in this strange activity.
The townspeople were more level-headed in their conspiracies, however. Many suspected that it was Dahlia herself who had written the books. The theory was that she had somehow managed to stay alive and avoided the authorities for years in secret. Many believed that, to make amends to her deceased husband, she had adopted his pen-name and continued his work in secret. This theory could never be proven, but it sure did get people talking!
Rumors persisted for many years that Dahlia lived out the remainder of her days in secret. No evidence, however, was ever found to prove it, as Dahlia’s body was never found. Many conspirators through the years have suggested that the O’Deary girl had actually managed to remain hidden inside the library for all of those years. How this could be is still a mystery.
Still, long after Dahlia’s potential life expectancy, mysterious events continue to occur in the library. These events seem to happen more often in areas where her husband’s works were originally shelved. It is said that her restless spirit shall not abide any who would replace the fiction bearing her husband’s name. Creepy!
To this day, strange phenomena have followed around the O’Deary family, and many suspect that both their name and their library are cursed. It is said that Dahlia’s betrayal of her family has cursed the O’Dearys into forever distrusting each other. Even Ava O’Deary, the joyful and eccentric daughter of Aidan O’Deary and current owner of the family’s library, does not speak to her sisters.
And, every now and then, there are still mysterious reports of creepy events occurring in the library. A curiously misplaced book. Bizarre cases of chairs and carts moving on their own. This inexplicable phenomena has led many to believe that the restless spirits of the O’Deary Sisters still endure.
What do you think? Could the O’Deary Sisters still haunt the halls of the O’Deary Library? Is the family doomed to fight with one another forever?
