The Name of the Star

Out of her element and across the sea, teenaged Rory arrives in London in The Name of the Star. With an experience full of opportunities awaiting her, she is excited for her new life at boarding
school. Unfortunately, new friends and fun aren’t all that await Rory, as her arrival marks the beginning of a string of brutal murders in London.

These murders are all too familiar to those familiar with history. In what is deemed as “Rippermania,” a copycat killer seems to be replicating Jack the Ripper’s vicious attacks from over one hundred years ago. And to make matters worse, Rory is the only person to have seen the killer, putting her life in imminent danger as the next likely victim!

While the setup is simple and straightforward, what comes next is anything but. The Name of the Star, written by Maureen Johnson, is fast-paced and wildly enjoyable, filled with shocks and surprises, creeping dread, snarky humour, romance, and characters you won’t forget!

It’s a great read for teen, and being only the first book in a series titled Shades of London, fans can look forward to revisiting Rory in the future with another tale that is sure to be as delightfully twisted as this one! Get ready to be frightened, entertained, and moved all at once.
